Note: While the printer name says 'CII8023', the printer is now located in CII 8118.

Windows XP

To connect to a printer on a network

  1. Open Printers and Faxes. (To open Printers and Faxes, click Start, click Control Panel, click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Printers and Faxes.)
  2. Under Printer Tasks, click Add a printer to open the Add Printer Wizard, and then click Next.
  3. Click A network printer, or a printer attached to another computer, and then click Next.
  4. Click Connect to this printer.
  5. Type the printer name using the following format: \\vpr-apps.win.rpi.edu\CII8023ABPCL6
  6. Click Next.
  7. You will be prompted to enter a username and password. Please enter your username in this format - WIN\rcsID - and your RCS password.
  8. Follow the instructions on the screen to finish connecting to the network printer.
After you have connected to a shared printer on the network, you can use it as if it were attached to your computer.

Windows Vista (32 & 64-bit)

  1. Click Start, Control Panel
  2. Open System and Maintenance
  3. Click Welcome Center
  4. Click Add a Printer
  5. Click Add a Network, wireless or Bluetooth printer, then hit next
  6. Then it will search for printers. Click STOP.
  7. Then click the printer I want wasn't listed
  8. Choose the radio button: Select a shared printer by name
  9. Then type the printer name using the following format: \\vpr-apps.win.rpi.edu\CII8023ABPCL6
  10. Click Next.
  11. You will be prompted to enter a username and password. Please enter your username in this format - WIN\rcsID - and your RCS password.
  12. Follow the instructions on the screen to finish connecting to the network printer.

Windows 7 (32 & 64-bit)

  1. Click Start, Devices and Printers
  2. Click Add Printer
  3. Click Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer
  4. Then it will search for printers. Click STOP.
  5. Then click, The printer I want isn't listed
  6. Choose the radio button: Select a shared printer by name
  7. Then type the printer name using the following format: \\vpr-apps.win.rpi.edu\CII8023ABPCL6
  8. Click Next.
  9. You will be prompted to enter a username and password. Please enter your username in this format - WIN\rcsID - and your RCS password.
  10. Follow the instructions on the screen to finish connecting to the network printer.
