This generally applies to any version of Windows, but some details may differ.

  1. Click on the 'Start' menu.
  2. Right-click on 'My Computer'.
  3. Select 'Map Network Drive...'.
  4. Under drive letter: Established convention for VPR systems is to use drive X: for the general VPR share and Z: for your network folder..
  5. Under 'Folder:', put in either:
    • \\vpr-fs1.win.rpi.edu\VPR for the VPR share (including the software directory and your center's shared folder)
    • \\vpr-fs1.win.rpi.edu\UserHomes$\username for your network folder. Be sure to replace 'username' with your own username.
  6. If the machine you are using it directly connected to the RPI network, you may select 'Reconnect at logon' to automatically re-map this drive when your machine is restarted. If you are not on the RPI network, please leave this unchecked.

Some troubleshooting notes:
  • If you have any third party firewall running, like ZoneAlarm, it will need to be disabled to let the connection succeed.
