Connecting to the RPI Network

You will first need to install the Cisco VPN client. That will let you connect back in to the RPI network:

File access

The directions to access your network folders, and the VPR shared space are at NetworkDrives. You will want to go through and map the drive for both the shared VPR folder, and your own user folder.

Email

There are two options for accessing your email. You can use the web interface at http://exchange.rpi.edu , or you can install Outlook on your home machine.

Installing Outlook (and Office 2003)

You can install Outlook after you are connected to the VPR fileserver by running the installer in Software/Licenses/Microsoft Office 2003/Installer.bat, under the drive you mapped above. Note that that will install the full Office 2003 suite, and can take quite a while to complete.

If you only want Outlook, you can manually install it by going into the Office directory and running Setup.exe, then selecting only the Outlook component. Then, run the program in Software/Licenses/Microsoft Office 2003 called RPI Exchange (MAPI).bat.

After that, you should be able to launch Outlook and login with your RCS username and password, like you would at work.

Banner / OSCAR / BRIO

Make sure you have the required plugin for the use of BRIO. Visit the following link for instructions on how to install the plugin: http://www.rpi.edu/datawarehouse/docs/Insight-Install-File-Server.pdf
